Dark Skies: Review

Dark Skies is slow burn, family-centric horror film that is neither great nor bad. The homage to Poltergeist is very clear from the start, but unfortunately, the script is all safe boiler plate material. The cast does the best they can with the material they're given, and the jump scares are somewhat effective. Well, the ones that the trailer didn't spoil, which is almost all of them. I kept imagining how cool this could have been if the marketing team didn't let everyone know exactly what was causing the paranormal activity. I guess the title sort of gives it away as well. I enjoyed it while I was watching it but forgot it almost instantly which is a very bad sign. At least it ended on a somewhat strong note.

This less interesting poster is desperately trying to evoke Insidious.
